Why No More Plastic Packaging?

The world is drowning in plastic—literally…

No More Plastic Packaging was born out of the realisation that the world is drowning in plastic—literally…and we really need to do something about it. Plastic is the scourge of our time, and we will be dealing with it’s aftermath for many decades to come.

With a passion for preserving this beautiful planet, and the creatures with which we share it, I decided “enough is enough!” I really needed to stop waiting for someone else to do something, and start doing something about the problem of plastic myself.

It is only over the passage of time that you realise that the problem of plastic did not exist when my grandparents were alive. I remember my grandfather used to shave each morning with a stainless steel razor instead of a plastic disposable. He kept sweets in a tin, and biscuits in a glass jar, and he did not carry a plastic drink bottle with him 24/7.  The milkman delivered milk in a glass bottle every day, and almost everyone had a compost heap at the bottom of their garden.

But things have changed… and here we are today, with the South Pacific garbage patch, which covers an area of 1.6 million square kilometres, spanning from the waters east of Australia to the South American continent, as far north as the Equator, and south until reaching the Antarctic circle.

The degradation of plastic is leading to all kinds of problems, not just for the ocean and sea life, but also for us human beings.

So what can we do about it?

“We can start by changing what we buy, what we eat, and what we do with our time—one day at a time…

Right now, more than ever, there is sufficient evidence that we as human beings are living unsustainably, and that the earth’s natural resources essential for life, are being depleted at an unprecedented rate. The importance of maintaining sustainability goes without saying.

Therefore it is everyone’s job to take the necessary action to protect the earth’s precious resources for ourselves and for the future generations to come.”

Sustainability

All our paper is sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified Managed Plantations, and all our products can be either recycled, biodegraded or composted either at home or at a commercial composting facility. Whilst commercial composting is a relatively new industry in Australia, more outlets are growing, and it is our goal to make commercial pick up more accessible to our customers in all areas of Australia. All bioplastics are sourced from plants, not oil, so will biodegrade under favourable conditions. Please check the bio-rating of your products before purchase. Please consider the environment before purchasing any single-use packaging.
